NUAST Students Enter Perse Programming Competition

Computer Science students at NUAST entered the Perse Coding Team Challenge today.

Over 30 students from across all 7-11 year groups took part in this annual programming challenge before school started.

Students worked in pairs or alone to solve a number of programming challenges. Teams could choose from a range of programming languages for their solutions although Python was a popular choice.

Results from the competition will be released next week when the event window closes. Those in the top scoring group will be invited to a second round later in the year.

Mr Wood, Head of Computing commented: "It is great to see such enthusiasm for programming across the year groups. We had a full room of students here voluntarily before school started today. Good luck to all those involved!"

The Perse Challenge is part of a calendar of programming events for secondary age students called UKCT Challenges, which includes the Bebras challenge that students entered earlier in the year. The challenges eventually lead up to the British Informatics Olympiad. More information about the challenge pathway can be found here: https://ukctchallenges.org/
