Great Mathematicians and the Quest for Questions.
Last year we introduced Sparx Maths as the learning platform for home learning within Maths. Sparx Maths is fantastic at supporting our pupils to become great Mathematicians, as it encourages them to show their working and keep track of their work. Sparx Maths is also intuitive and adjusts to the level the pupil, providing more support or challenge as appropriate. There are also informative videos available when pupils need more help.
Last academic year, we were very proud of our pupils response to the introduction of Sparx maths. Engagement was high and by the end of the year, NUAST pupils had answered a staggering 924,022 questions! Already this academic year, in less than 1 term, NUAST pupils have tackled a phenomenal number of questions – can we do even better than last year and break the 1,000,000 mark this academic year?
In addition to completing set home learning tasks, pupils have the opportunity to undertake independent learning and earn XP points. A huge well done goes to the following top performers for each year group: Noor (year 7), Johan (year 8), Swati (year 9), John Paul (year 10), and Jana (year 11). These top performers have already earned over 10,000 XP points each! We look forward to seeing how many more XP points all of our amazing mathematicians earn – will anyone reach 50,000 XP points before the year ends?
The success of the top performers is down to their hard work and engagement, supported by their parents/carers. Thank you parents and carers.
Well done to all and good luck on your quest to answer more questions and earn more points!
