SPARX Maths - Homework: A Path To Self Learning And Excellence In Mathematics

What Is Sparx Maths

In key Stage 3 and 4 we set our homework through SPARX Maths. The video in this link gives you an introduction to how SPARX came about and the potential benefits for your child.

What can I be doing to support my child?

  • Students can login to SPARX through the following link https://welcome.sparxmaths.uk/ They are shown how to login when they arrive and they choose their own password.
  • SPARX has now been used at NUAST since September 2022, in that time we have had some excellent work done by the majority of our students but some still struggle to complete their weekly compulsory homework.
  • Homework is set weekly for every child at NUAST and should last between 30mins to 60mins
  • As a parent we are asking you to support your child by ensuring they show you their completed work. You will get an email to state that your child has not got their homework completed and to support them we would strongly recommend you agree with your child when the homework will be done so that they create a routine habit of doing homework at a set time every week.

Independent learning with SPARX Maths

If your child is keen to do well or improve their Mathematics the best action they can take is independent learning. On SPARX, they can click on the independent learning section and select their area of study from the 6 main sections. Once they have done this they can click on the specific topic and exercises to do.

Here they can also access any aspect of mathematics for practice or new learning to discover new ideas beyond the scope of their classroom. This is a brilliant resource as often we have very keen students who are eager for further challenge or students who need a repeated explanation.

Both directed learning (through homework) and Independent learning are provided by SPARX Maths.
