Great mathematicians are always being challenged

We have recently changed our homework system from Hegarty maths to Sparx maths. This new and improved site allows students to access their homework with helpful videos to assist with their learning. Sparx adjusts its difficulty level over time to suit students and their individual ability to ensure all students are being challenged.
A big change for our students are the "Bookwork Checks", this is a process that ensures students are writing down their homework and using their books to help them. We have provided each student with a homework book so they can keep this organised at home. The "Bookwork Check" asks students to recall previous answers corresponding to a particular code, checking that they have written down their answers on paper. We are encouraging this so that students are developing good habits of writing down their workings out and taking their time to complete their homework thoroughly.
We are then able to monitor how many bookwork checks have been incorrectly completed, along with how long a student has spent on their homework, detailing their previous attempts too. Homework can be followed up and reviewed in class, reinforcing good learning and eliminating errors identified by the pupils independent work.
