Great mathematicians gear up for their A level Maths and Further Maths exams.
Exam season is upon us and this is a stressful time for our year 13 students with future university, apprenticeship and career plans resting on exam outcomes. Our great mathematicians in year 13 have worked with their teachers to prepare and secure the good grades they deserve. Students have learnt that:
Good exam preparation is about knowing your weaknesses and targeting these.
There are lots of online resources out there, like tuition videos but that these are only a stepping stone to effective revision, which is all about practice in maths.
That self-marking is a powerful learning opportunity and our students now know the examiner’s marking criteria really well and understand the lessons often learned when you find an error in your own work and root out its cause, to avoid repeating it in the future.
Our students have easy access to lots of practice and support materials via our student shared area and have also been supplied with study packs. The Physics and Math Tutor website is a popular source with all our students at this time of year, for even more resources.

Maths are lucky enough to have all of our A level exams starting at 1:30pm so we are able to run extended, supported study on the morning of each exam. These warm-up sessions run from 10:30-12:30 in the VILLA on each day, with specialist teachers and prepared materials to help with some “warm-up” exercises. We always encourage students to take a break with fresh air, nutrition and exercise in the journey back to the mainsite before their exam.
We are very proud of our year 13 mathematicians this year, who deserve to earn some great qualifications to take them on to their next path. Good luck to you all.
