The Greenpower challenge 24+ is being offered as part of the enrichment opportunities at NUAST. This challenge is all about designing and building an electric racing vehicle with a standard motor and sets of batteries whilst following strict regulations. Students also need to work well as a team during the design and build phases and also on the grid and in races. Students had to make an applications to be one of the ten students that are able to be included in the team.
With the applications in and the Greenpower 10 selected, the students have worked hard in their own, and enrichment time to build the main frame of the electric racing vehicle in just under a week. With the main body of the vehicle assembled it was taken out for its first successful trial run around the Academy.
The enthusiasm of the students is clear to see. The students are already considering how to progress and engineer the rest of the build with their passion for the challenge and engineering shining through.
Well done to the Greenpower 10, for your effort and enthusiasm, here’s to your future successes as the NUAST Greenpower Challenge team 2015 – 2016.
